Valkenburg/Plenkertstraat
Dieses Projekt ist eine Kooperation mit Marres, zeitgenössisches Kulturzentrum Maastricht, Mauerer Architects und der Stadt Valkenburg. Die Stadt Valkenburg in den Niederlanden sucht nach einer Vision, um die unterschiedlichen kulturellen Einrichtungen, Restaurants und Hotels der ‚Plenkertstraat’ zu verbinden und die Region mit zusätzlichen Impulsen zu bereichern. Das Team für Stadtentwicklung von Maastricht-Valkenburg und die Stadtgemeinde von ‘Valkenburg aan de Geul’ haben gemeinsam mit dem Bürgermeister Martin Eurlings das Projekt ’Roman Roads Valkenburg’ für die zweite Projektphase ausgewählt und beauftragt. Das Projekt ’Roman Roads Valkenburg’ schlägt neue, fiktive, römische Orte in der ‚Plenkerstraat’ vor; diese sollen die einzelnen Elemente der Plenkertstraat mit einem ‚roten Faden’ verbinden und sichtbar machen. Weiters weist das Konzept auf das hohe Potential der speziellen Erde des Caubergs hin. Lokale und globale Teilnehmer werden in die Stadtentwicklung einbezogen. Das Projekt wird auf facebook vorgestellt. Durch das Drücken des ‚like-button' auf facebook, erhalten die Teilnehmer einen Stein. Dieser ist Teil eines neuen Pfads. Auf diesem Stein kann von jedem Teilnehmer eine Nachricht hinterlassen werden, die dann in einem QR-Code umgewandelt und im Stein eingebettet wird. Durch die Verwendung eines Online-Such-Tools kann die Position des einzigartigen Steines virtuell angezeigt werden. Dadurch wird ermöglicht sowohl in Realität als auch in der Virtualität zu kommunizieren. Ein Ort der ‚Plenkertstraat’, der Cauberg, zeigt hohes Potenzial für den Anbau einer besonderen Rebsorte. Der hohe Gehalt an Mergelstein in der Erde des Caubergs ist speziell in dieser Region vorhanden. Der Mergelstein verleiht dem Wein einen einzigartigen Geschmack und wird in umliegenden Städten bereits für den Anbau von Weinbau erfolgreich genutzt. Das römische Thema, der neue Pfad und der ‚römische Wein’ verbinden die verschiedenen kulturellen Elemente der ‚Plenkertstraat’ und machen Valkenburg zu einer Stadt, die für Innovation, kulturelle Aktivitäten, Natur und qualitativ hochwertige Produkte steht. Das Projekt wird am 19.Dez.2011 in einer Ausstellung, kuratiert von Gijs Bakker, und einem Symposium präsentiert. |
Valkenburg/Plenkertstraat This project is a cooperation with Marres, Centre for Contemporary Culture Maastricht, Maurer United Architects and the municipality of 'Valkenburg aan de Geul'. The city of Valkenburg is looking for a vision on the area which connects the cultural facilities in the area with the restaurants and hotels; giving the area an extra impulse. The area development team of Maastricht-Valkenburg, the municipality of 'Valkenburg aan de Geul' with mayor Martin Eurlings have commissioned and selected the 'Roman Road Valkenburg' from the longlist. The 'Roman Road Valkenburg' project seeks to create new fictitious Roman Roads trough Valkenburg, where local and global group of participants will be involved in the urban development; trough this proposal I also aim to show the high potential of one specific location belonging to the new path: a vineyard on the hill of Valkenburg. The real and fictitious history of Valkenburg will be applied to the present needs of the city. The region of Valkenburg and a number of online participants will create a new pathway. By pressing the 'like-button' on facebook, you get a stone. You can leave your unique message which will be generated in a QR code. This code will be embedded in the stone in order to communicate both in reality and virtuality. By using an online search-tool the position of your stone in Valkenburg will be displayed. Furthermore the soil of the Cauberg shows a huge amount of Marlstone; it has a high potential for growing a special grape variety. The soil plays an important role in the vine cultivation, it gives the wine a special taste. Villages around Valkenburg show that vine cultivation is working very well in this region. The Roman theme, the new pathway and the Roman Wine will connect the different cultural elements of Plenkertstraat and will lead to a city which stands for innovation, cultural activities, nature and top-quality products. The project will be presented on the 19th of december in a symposium and exhibition, which will be curated by Gijs Bakker.
